The Imperium's military is divided into 2 main branches, the Imperial Navy and the Imperial Marine Corps. Each branch is further divided into more parts.

Imperial Navy

The Imperial Navy consists of all of the military vessels in the Imperium and the space staions that support them. The Navy is split up into 9 major fleets. Each fleet has a primary function that it serves. To view these functions, visit the Imperial Shipyards. Each fleet is further divided into divisions that consist of anywhere from 25 ships to 500 ships.

Military ships are divided into 3 different classifications, Starships, Capitol Ships and Base Ships. Starships, which range from escorts to Light Cruisers, form the backbone of the Navy. Due to there high speed, they are used primarily for patroling the Imperium's territories and light assault missions. Capitol Ships, which range from Cruisers to Dreadnoughts, are used for defense and planetary assault. Base Ships are used for command and coordination purposes. Imperial Marine Corps

The Imperial Marine Corps consists of all soldiers in the Imperium. The primary function of the Corps is to repel planetary invasions. However, they are also trained in the execution of planetary invasion, should the need ever arise. Other functions of the Corps include peace-keeping missions, planetary relief missions, and riot control (which hasn't been necessary for centuries).
